Hiking

Despite mainly being a beach destination, the volcanic land of Lanzarote has a lot more to show. Hike or cycle around the wonderful Timanfaya National Park and watch the barren volcanic landscape, or in case you want to explore it in a unique manner, hop on one of the camel rides around the area. If you are not easily impressed however, a visit to Los Hervideros will make your jaw drop. Witness the power of the waves and the sheer force of volcanoes which shaped the landscape while their blue and red colours contrast in front of your eyes providing you with a picture to remember.

 

Jameos del Agua

One of the most unique features of Lanzarote, the Jameos owe their presence to the ever present volcanoes in the area. A result of trapped gas explosions thousands of years ago, the Jameos del Agua are nowadays a spectacle for the whole family. Dine or have a drink by the stunning pool or book tickets for a concert into one of the world’s largest volcanic tubes.

 

Cesar Manrique museum

For a spectacular change of scenery during your family holidays in Lanzarote make sure you visit the Cesar Manrique museum! Once the home of the famous Canarian architect/artist Cesar Manrique, this exceptional museum is a fine example of his unique architectural style. Some of the works of the artist are on display and the place itself puts you in a serene mood as its tropical pool and wonderful surroundings are a feast for the eyes.
