Fuerteventura – If you’re seeking somewhere a little bit quieter than the other Canary Islands then Furteventura could be for you. If you’re worried that there won’t be enough to keep yourself or the kids occupied then fear not, there are plenty of watersports such as surfing and windsurfing to try out and some golf courses to hone your skills at. The best places for windsurfing and surfing are around Corralejo and Jandia, with many expert schools and equipment hire. For golf, there is a 18 hole course at Costa Caleta, with a free bus service running from the centre of Caleta to the course. If you’re more of the beach type, average temperatures of around 25 degrees in October mean you’ll get plenty of sunshine and time to relax on the sandy beaches. Our top pick is the
Tenerife – Tenerife is fantastic for year-round sun and offers families some great all-inclusive resorts but it is great for groups of friends too. The south of the island is best suited to groups and families as this is where the resorts are located, while the north is more traditional and is better suited to couples. If it’s the beach or pool you’re trying to choose between. In most places you won’t have to as most of the hotels we have available have their own swimming pools but are also located just a stone’s throw from golden, sandy beaches. Playa de las Americas is one of the most well known resorts, with great restaurants, bars and clubs. You will find families enjoying all the resort has to offer during the day and groups of friends enjoying the nightlife after sundown. Costa Adeje, also in the south of Tenerife is a little bit more upmarket but still has all the beach, bars, restaurants you could need.
Gambia – Gambia is great value for money and one of the best bets for winter sunshine. Gambia offers a great mix of stunning beaches and wildlife. In just 6 hours, you can go from drizzle in Britain to brilliant sunshine in exotic Gambia. If it’s family adventure you want then Gambia offers the chance to go on a popular safari trip. It offers everything you could want from a family holiday but with something a little bit different too – the chance to learn about new cultures and wildlife. Kotu is a great resort for nature-lovers, where you can see many species of animals and birds.
